When you have OST file and want to import back into Outlook, you need an OST to PST converter software.
OST to PST Converter Software
So, I switch to a different company last week after years of working with the one that I left. It was in most part a seamless transition, except my email data that I had stored over the years. Much of the data was official and not exactly “mine”. But there were some portion that I could take with me as it had some records that I wanted to have.
Anyway, my company, or rather my previous company had Outlook installed in all the machines in the office, in a Windows environment.
My first mistake was that I had copied the OST file from the Outlook profile database and I kept that file with me. OST is a file that Outlook creates when you add an IMAP or Exchange account on to it. The data gets downloaded from the servers to the file, allowing you to work with it even in an offline mode. And all the changes get synced later on.
But what I didn’t know then that an OST file without the original email account was of no use. The OST file that I kept as a backup could not be opened with my personal Outlook client on my home computer. Because OST is just an internal and functional file that Outlook interacts with, unlike a personal storage table file called PST.
Luckily, I quickly found out about what I can do to get the data back from the inaccessible OST files. It was by converting OST to PST files.

But not so luckily, I wasted too much of time and efforts and in some cases even money to convert OST to PST files. The only tool that I desperately needed, that I didn’t find soon, was “OST Extractor Pro” by USL Software.
Conversion of email data files isn’t like any other task. It can get quite complicated and time consuming and if you aren’t an expert on such intricated technical tasks, it will mess you up. And so was the case with me. After trying out dozens of OST to PST Converter software, I finally ended with ‘OST Extractor Pro’.
“OST Extractor Pro” starts to distinguish itself from all the rest just based on its interface. The first time I launched the tool, I intuitively understood the steps I needed to take. The tool’s friend UI makes it such that any beginner can start converting OST to PST files without any efforts.
But what’s even better is the accuracy of converted data in PST files.
In majority of the converters that I tried before this, I found that the output PST files would have certain items either missing or not converted with properly details and metadata preserved. I would often face the loss of images, attachments, non-English text, and so on. The ability of “OST Extractor Pro” to convert each one of these items was what was refreshing and relieving.
I wish I had found it sooner.
It is also available for both operating systems – Mac and Windows. And the reason why a tool that converts OST to PST files is available for Mac. Because PST file format can also be used with Mac Outlook to import data.
There is a free trial version that you can try right now. This is what I used at the beginning to see everything without getting the paid license. And the 24 x 7 support is also quick to respond to any of the queries.
Here is the link to download. In free trial mode, the tool works for ten items per folder. But all the other features are absolutely free to try without locking.
